Well, it was with great pleasure, and to be honest a touch of sadness to finally finish the elusive Alpine Pass Route. 340km in total, crossing 16 mountain passes with 19500m of total ascent and 19600m of total descent. The guide book suggests doing it in 21 days. We rattled it off in just under five and a half years. As far as I can tell, that qualifies us as the slowest group ever to complete the Alpine Pass Route. We challenge any other group to do it slower in fact. It is not easy! Jana and I consider ourselves very lucky to have found ourselves in such good company and we will never forget the ups and downs along the way.
